Jimm’s NOLA These are places of interest to me. I’m a little Uptown-centric, only because I’ve only been exposed to so much.

NOLA Faubourgs (created by Jimm)
Like New York City, New Orleans is known to its residents as a collection of neighborhoods and districts. New Orleans can be broken up into Faubourgs (traditionally, neighborhoods surrounding a French Capital) or Wards, as they are known politically. Use is circumstantial; You talk about the Faubourg you grew up in or the Ward where all the crime is. Just like New York, you’ll find lots of old-timers who’ll argue these district boundaries all day long. Instead of Chinatown or Hell’s Kitchen, we have Black Pearl and The Irish Channel, not to mention the Garden District or 9th Ward. Sure we have East Riverside, but within it are Faubourg Marengo and Faubourg Delachaise. Some are named for formerly sovereign cities that were annexed by New Orleans, such as Carrolton. Others, like the St. Thomas Development share a name with The Projects within them.
